commissions for research:long distance views

commissions for research:long distance views is a series of commissioned works from photographers/illustrators/designers to gather visual information of particular geographical areas or types of spaces. Briefs are sent or emailed specifying where, how and what to investigate and these are then discussed over email or phone until the project is agreed on. Initially the works are kept as a collection in themselves, but a few will form the basis of ongoing research and further projects.

Long distance views is understood as both a literal view point, a point of view referring to the attitude of the one who is producing the image, as well as being a collaboration over a distance in order to form certain view points from which to build projects.

*the focus is (re)production of space
*the aim is geographical extension of potentiality and reach of those involved
*the method is collaboration and specification
*the experience is physical
